Athleticism and off-road riding skill were exhibited last July 28 to 29, 2017 at the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy Philippine Qualifier, as competing riders faced various action-packed challenges and intense events. Aiming to measure the competence and tenacity of the participating riders, the local qualifiers set varying stages that dared the limits of its contenders.
The volatile weather did not stop the riders from braving through the courses—enduring fierce obstacles, riding tests, and extreme team challenges in mud and grit.
After two days of intense competition, victors have emerged—proving themselves worthy of representing the Philippines at the Southeast Asian Qualifiers. The top three riders: Aris Cuevas, Derrick Itchon, and Leother Valderama will be taking their most daring ride to Thailand this September 2017 for the chance to contend in the upcoming 2018 GS Trophy International in Mongolia.
Following the successful conclusion of the GS Trophy Philippine Qualifier, BMW Motorrad invited celebrities, official partners, and media personalities to the GS Trophy-Enduro Training held last July 30, 2017. Riders from C! Magazine, Driven2Ride, MTORQUEph, GMA-7, ABS-CBN, and more attended the event—where they experienced the thrill of the track in an adrenaline-filled course. The BMW Motorrad Racing Team riders, Marvin Mangulabnan and Lawrence Macalinao, also took part in the training.
BMW Motorrad would like to thank all the brave riders who participated in the competition, the BMW Motorrad Certified Instructors Tommy Lee B.J. and Johnny Chen, the BMW Motorrad Certified Tour Guide Alvin Dee, and the Regional Marketing Manager for BMW Motorrad Southeast Asia Aline Lorch.
The BMW Motorrad GS Trophy Philippine Qualifier 2017 would also not have been possible without its official event partners, Touratech Philippines, MTORQUEph, Metzeler Tires, and Driven 2 Ride.
